Happy Early Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is this weekend, and if you’re like me the best part of this holiday is spending time with your kids. And that’s just what I plan to do (although I might let my husband treat me to brunch, first!). We’re planning to pack up a picnic of PB&J sandwiches and head to a local park, or maybe even just hang out in our backyard for an easy afternoon together. The best part of celebrating this way (besides the fact that it’s easy on the pocketbook) is that there’s no stress involved. Just a simple day with family.  My favorite.

But, I know many people like to take advantage of holidays like Mother’s Day to get out and enjoy the city with their families. If you’re in this camp, you might check out the Kansas City Zoo. This weekend the Zoo is hosting a Hy-Vee Mother’s Day Ice Cream Sunday – moms get free zoo admission and a free ice cream cone (while supplies last). Not feeling quite that wild? Here’s a great list of other Mother’s Day activities from KC Parent!

And if you or your little ones are looking for gifts that come from the heart, and that your budget will love, check out this fun list of homemade gifts and activities to celebrate the special moms in your life.

Wishing you all a wonderful Mother’s Day!
